Sparked by her visit to a cave in West Papua and the lifeforms she encountered there, Marguerite Humeau has created a new body of work that draws upon her research into the intricate ecosystems of caves and their inhabitants.

Drawing from the tradition of figuration, Samson's latest paintings continue to grapple with irresolvable questions of the metaphysical and the existential, as well as ideas of mortality and transience. Interweaving classical conventions with contemporary sensibilities, he constructs images imbued with symbolic, spiritual and social resonance.
